So much has happened concerning Mr. Kempf, the sculptures, the family, the neighbors, and the city. I had been completely out of touch with this situation. I called Mr. Kempf's daughter, Lottie, when I returned home. We talked for a while about the events that had and were transpiring.
I have invited Lottie to write an article, to be posted on this web site. It will be available for viewing, in its entirety, once I receive it. She and I had a very pleasant conversation. Thank you Lottie.
If you know the works of Mr. Kempf, then you know that these wind sculptures are only a fraction of the man's talents. Starr possessed artistic desires far beyond the mortal man. He has accomplished, more in one lifetime, than most could accomplish in ten lifetimes.
The home that he build, and his beautiful family was raised in, contains more of his detailed attention. Everywhere you look you notice something personal, something that was created through his mind and with his hands. Beams carved with floral decor, spun iron railings, curved borders, tapered designs, wooden inlays, a cradle for his baby. He is within every inch of this home.
A galley of bronze, charcoal, and paint. Images on canvas, and on pedestals, fill your mind with a taste of the artists feeling. You are left speechless at the abundance of beauty before you. Starr Kempf was a genius.
Now, please enjoy the beauty of his sculptures. Starr Kempf's wind-filled memories. Let us hope they will remain on the Kempf property, as a part of Colorado Springs, for a very long time.
