4000 gallons per minute X 110 minutes = A bunch of water!

Flood at the Shops at the Bluffs...

A 10 inch water main, that fed the fire suppression system for the mall, burst because of the cold temperatures at approximately 3:15pm on Friday.  4000 gallons of water per minute shot from the break, causing as many as 40 businesses to become flooded.  The water flowed for 110 minutes, filling the parking lot and businesses.  Fire crews worked, trying to divert as much of the water as they could.  Utility workers were unable to shut off the valve closest to the break, but were able to get it shut down by turning off the main supply at the street, which also cut water supply for many other businesses in the area, temporarily.

KKTV was the first to arrive on-scene, and the only media outlet that got video of the actual water flow.  The others arrived after the water was shut off, over two hours after the incident first began.
