KOAA-TV helps with a

Holiday Message from Home

Last week I was making my way through the mall, when I saw a camera crew setting up just outside the Foley's store.  Being the inquisitive type (read: nosey) I made my stealth approach from the southeast.  That approach was not stealth enough, as I learned when I heard the question; "You're Blabbing Mike, aren't you?".

I was discovered.  The person asking that question turned out to be James Muller, a KOAA commercial production editor/producer.  He and a KOAA crew were at this spot to capture holiday messages to the troops stationed around the world.  It was a special project KOAA had arranged with the mall.  So special and unique, I found out, that the station had submitted the story to the TODAY SHOW for possible inclusion in one of their national packages.

Anyway, another treat for me that afternoon was the chance to meet that famous "robe guy", seen staring in KOAA's website commercials.  You've seen them, I'm sure. The one's where the guy surfs the web and accomplishes many tasks from the comfort of his home while wearing his robe, as he is connected on-line to the KOAA website.  He is Darin Dawson, their director of internet marketing.

Anyway, enough of my Blabbing. Here are a few pics I got while hanging out in the mall, while they went about the task at hand, capturing those "Holiday Messages from Home".

Darin, Mike, and James setting up in preparation for those, wishing to record messages.

From the KOAA website:

Family and friends of deployed military personnel will soon have a chance to use technology to send a free video message across the world.  News First and the Citadel Mall are sponsoring an event where people can send a holiday greeting over the internet.

Plan your message, then come to the Citadel Mall, just outside Foley's on November 18 between 2 and 8 p.m.  News First employees will tape your video greeting and then make streaming video available for loved ones to see on this website.

Ahh, a customer.  Matt and Andy arrive to get a story for the evening news.
