A media 'parking ticket' blast from the past

KRDO, swept up in sweeps, forgets they're guilty too?

4/30/08:Some news stories should just be left alone.  Especially when you cover news story subject matter that your station is GUILTY of too.  Such was the case last night when I caught a piece by KRDO News Channel 13 (Where the News come first)... or should it be 'Where the hypocrisy comes first'?

The story was about police agencies parked on Cascade near the Antlers hotel, while attending some type of conference or get-together.  Their marked patrol cars were parked in front of parking meters that had not been "fed".

The reporter treated the story with much sensationalism, even trailing one officer who had just plunked some coin into his meter, throwing pointed questions his way. Based on the reporter's approach and delivery, it was like he was trailing a major felon, grilling the officer (who was trying to be polite) with each step he took as he tried to get back into the meeting place.

I could not believe what I was watching and hearing.

ESPECIALLY knowing that every one of the local TV news organizations is guilty of the exact same thing KRDO was now sensationalizing.  Yes, I have personally witnessed news vehicles from every station (KRDO, KKTV, KOAA, and KXRM) parked in front of parking meters that were either expired or not 'fed' when the reporter/photog got out of that vehicle.  I've even done write-ups on that subject, with pictures of tickets on the windows of those news vehicle for parking violations.

So... KRDO, you get two News Blab thumbs down for your sensationalized parking meter story of last night.  All for the fact that you guys do the same thing... and you know it!
