4/28/08: It's as simple as that, folks.
Someone wrote, telling me to get my facts straight about Jeannette Hynes.
I'm guessing that person saw her picture and bio still under the morning news
area on the KXRM website, and they're thinking... she's not gone.
Well... as I previously wrote would be
happening, Grace Polanski was in front of the camera on the Fox 21 Morning news,
this morning... not Jeannette Hynes.
For better or worse, Hynes is no longer a part
of the morning news team over at Fox 21. Even Andy Wineke at the Gazette wrote
this on his blog this morning:
Grace Polanski replaces Jeannette Hynes on KXRM
mornings
Beginning this morning, in fact. KXRM GM Steve Dant said Hynes wanted to spend
more time at home with her kids, but hoped to return to broadcasting once they
were in school. He said they haven't made a decision on who will take Polanski's
weekend anchor slot.
Spend more time with her kids...??? Well, I'm
guessing that is part of the reason, but as I have learned over the years when
reading a reason why a newsie has left a station... it's not always 100%
accurate. In this case I have a feeling... there is a bit more to the
story than is being shared. For now anyway...
4/28/08: News Blab has learned, Gray Television
Inc. (owners of KKTV 11 News) has recently had their ratings put on "negative
watch" by the Standard & Poor's Ratings Services. (ref1:forbes.com article -Gray
Television ratings on negative watch on covenant concerns - S&P).
Also, within the past few months Gray Television (GTN) stock has been dumped by
at least 15 institutions or similar (dumped meaning they sold all their Gray
Television Inc. (GTN) stock), while 24 institutions or similar sold some, but
not all of their Gray Television (GTN) holdings, and another 24 institutions or
similar added more GTN stock to their portfoilio. (ref2: mffais.com)
So... what does this all mean...??? I don't know... but it's words for
thought.
Weekend- 4/26&27/08: Wow... you've got
to read the blotter entry for this one. I saw the aftermath (pictures
below), but had no idea all this happened before the final impact.
From the CSPD blotter:
Incident Date April 27, 2008
Time 12:00:00 PM
Division Stetson Hills Shift I
Title Traffic Crash
Location 4600 North Powers Blvd
Summary: A 1986 Chevy pickup was traveling southbound on Powers Blvd when the
driver had a seizure and blacked out. The vehicle then veered right traveling
off the roadway and striking a utility pole, cutting it in half. The vehicle
then continued in a southeast direction crossing three lanes of southbound
Powers Blvd. The vehicle crossed over the center median and then continued
southeast crossing over three lanes of northbound Powers Blvd. The vehicle then
traveled off the roadway and down a steep embankment leading to the parking lot
of Circuit City (5904 Barnes Rd). While traveling down the embankment the
vehicle traveled over 100 yards at estimated speeds of 50-60 mph. The vehicle
entered into the parking lot of the business and collided with a parking median.
This sent the vehicle airborne. While in the air the vehicle struck a light
pole, causing the vehicle to rotate onto its roof and land about 50 feet south
of where it became airborne. Upon hitting the ground the vehicle's front end
landed on the trunk of another car that was parked in the parking lot and the
rear of the vehicle struck another parked vehicle.
The driver and only occupant was transported to Memorial Hospital with non-life
threatening injuries.
