"Return to the Dawn Bruning roll-over accident scene"
- A News Blab Exclusive -

4/20/08: Today members of the Colorado Springs
Fire Department returned to the scene of the early Saturday morning rollover
accident, where Dawn Bruning was arrested for vehicular assault and DUI,
according to the police blotter. The accident occurred on the same block
and just a short distance from where Dawn Bruning-Martin has a house and a
charitable foundation registered.
Dawn Bruning-Martin is the daughter of 8 time
Pikes Peak Hill Climb champion Ralph Bruning, and the sister of Chandler Bruning,
another family racer. He lost his life in a crash on Pikes Peak in 2001, hitting
a tree which entered his car through the windshield, killing him instantly
according to news reports.
While at the scene on Broadmoor Valley Road,
CSFD members inspected the spot where the vehicle Dawn Bruning was purported to
have been driving, crashed into a tree. They also talked with the home
owners who owned the tree that was damaged by that crash.

"Cycle racing comes to Colorado Springs"

4/20/08: It was a weekend filled with thrills
and spills. The Colorado Springs Front Range Cycling Classic was held in
our town. It's a two day cycling race event featuring the CC Campus Criterium on
Saturday on the CC campus and near Monument Valley Park, and the Fighting Falcon
Road Race held on Sunday at the AFA. I watched a portion of Saturday's race, the
Criterium.
To enter all racers must be holding a USA Cycling license because the event was
held under USA Cycling rules. Besides all those fast moving cyclists going round
and round, the event also sponsored a beer garden for spectators, clinics
including an introduction to racing for those unfamiliar with the sport, and a
bike & business expo for local shops to strut their stuff and give away some
goodies.
There was also a dinner held on Saturday night where Greg Lemond was the guest
speaker.

"Pikes Peak Hill Climb champ's daughter arrested?"
- A News Blab Exclusive -
4/19/08 - 9:15 a.m.: It might be purely
coincidental, but this morning police arrested a Dawn Bruning for Vehicular
Assault/DUI after the vehicle she was purportedly driving was involved in a
rollover accident on Broadmoor Valley Rd.
Ralph Bruning, who was an eight-time Pikes Peak
Hill Climb champion and record-setter in the 1970's, 80's and 90's, had a daughter named Dawn,
although records show her as being named Dawn Bruning-Martin in 2000 when her
father died of cancer. Bruning's son and Dawn's brother, Ralph Chandler Bruning
Jr. was also a Hill Climb contender who died in 2001 when his Super Stock car
went off the dirt road at 80 mph and struck a tree by a 20-foot embankment. The
car landed on its top and part of the tree entered the car; according to a
Gazette report.
This may not even be the same 'Dawn Bruning'...
but it's worth a look see.
UPDATE: Dawn
Bruning-Martin, Ralph Brunings daughter, is the president of the Ralph and Chandler Bruning Foundation, which is located at 3942 Broadmoor Valley Road. This
morning's roll-over accident occurred on Broadmoor Valley Road.
IMHO - It appears this is now less of a
coincidence as first thought. What do you think...???
Dawn Bruning-Martin is also listed as a player
on the Arcticwolves, a 2007-2008 women's team within the Pikes Peak Women's
Hockey Foundation.
Here is this morning's police blotter entry:

"Hardy Boys #238 - The Springs' USOC Coal Tar Mystery"

One of the Hardy Boy's friends climbs the fence at 30 S. Cimino Drive, to join
the meeting
4/19/08: Frank and Joe Hardy met at the old
Colorado Springs gas utilities building at 30 S. Cimino, after eating a
wholesome breakfast fixed by Mrs. Hardy. Their father, and famous detective
Fenton Hardy was off again on one of his many adventures around the county.
Fenton was a well respected detective, and his son's, who he had much pride in,
were following in his footsteps.
The Hardy Boys, along with a few of their most
trusted friends, met at 30 S. Cimino, future home of the USOC Governing Body
Headquarters, designated that through a deal struck by City leaders to use tax
payers dollars (without taxpayer approval), to discuss a mystery that had been
haunting them since finding out about the City's wheeling and dealing.
Although the boys weren't able to read the
details of what had been decided to do about the toxic coal tar that had been
buried in the surrounding area so long ago... not able to possibly read about it
because the City's Mayor had found a "loop-hole" on how to discuss details of
USOC / City transactions without having to provide them to the local newspaper
if he used his non-government e-mail address, they still knew the coal tar
byproduct presented a possible health risk. One that gave them and their
chums, much concern.
So many questions they still had -
- Was the coal tar going to be cleaned up, as
was discussed by City Council and building commissions in the past when others
were attempting to buy that land and building (Before USOC plans trumped all
others)?
- Was the Mayor's campaign contributing buddy,
LandCo Equity owner and developer Ray Marshall given a 'secret waiver' from
cleaning the area... since it's "Him"?
- Is the surrounding area, which includes a
children's playground and America the Beautiful Park still in danger from those
toxins?
- If not cleaned up will the same concerns that
are worrying Olympians going to China (where coal tar problems are far worse
than here), go on for years?
- Why didn't anyone talk about the coal tar
problem during all the 'USOC staying in our City', hoop-la?
The Hardy Boys have one heck of a mystery to
solve.
Stay tuned for 'Hardy
Boys #239', "The Secret of the Developers Brotherhood"...
