"AMR to go back to ordering Fords"

A News Blab Exclusive

4/3/08: If given a choice... in a real medical emergency, would you rather be taken to the hospital in a Ford or a Chevy?  Okay... now that we have determined if you favor Ford or Chevy, let's make it a bit more interesting.  If given a choice... in a real medical emergency and time was of the essence, would you rather be taken to the hospital in the ambulance that was first dispatched to you, and gets to you as quickly as possible or would you like to be taken to the hospital by a second ambulance that had to be dispatched from farther away, because the first ambulance could only go 20 mph because the engine sensors detected a condition that didn't allow it to go any faster?

NO... this is not a trick question.  It's one that AMR personnel had to weigh when they decided to go with Ford vans during their next purchase cycle, rather than Chevy's, like the ones bought during their last purchase.

An AMR spokesperson announced to ESA Board Members at yesterdays meeting, that AMR would once again be purchasing Ford vans for their ambulance service fleet instead of Chevys, as they had in the recent past.  It was mentioned that even though the problems experienced with earlier Fords were bad, the same problems which then prompted an all Chevy buy, those Ford problems were not as bad as AMR has been experiencing with the recently purchased Chevy vans.  The sensor problem was just one example mentioned.

So... AMR is looking out for the patient... and that's a good thing!
