3/31/08: Thanks to a News Blab "Got a tip?" tipster... I can share the following
fun fact with you.
Question... How many City Traffic Engineers does it take to put up a street
sign, wrong?
Answer... I don't know, but I sure hope they
didn't have a hand in doing this one!
Check it out... This sign is currently posted in
Monument Valley Park, and greets walkers and runners as they approach an
intersection. Fact is... the street to the right is Glen Ave, and the one
to the left is Cache La Poudre St. But, as you can see by this sign...
they have it wrong and backwards. Go figure...
3/31/08: On Saturday, 29 March 2008 the El Paso County Democratic Latino
Initiative and Cesar Chavez Academy held their First Annual Cesar Chavez March
in downtown Colorado Springs. About 100 marchers took part in the event, walking
many of the downtown streets, while carrying signs and banners as they shouted
supportive words.
A CSPD walking escort was provided to ensure they did not get injured while
participating, helping the group to stay as a one group as they crossed the many
intersections within the downtown area.
3/30/08: A fire alarm was pulled inside the historic Colorado Springs Deaf and
Blind school Sunday evening, after residents were made aware that a girl was
standing on the rooftop ledge of one of the tallest buildings on the campus.
When emergency responders arrived they saw the girl on the ledge's edge, and a
rescue effort was put into place. Stay tuned for more, including pictures
of the entire event, Monday on News Blab...

3/30/08: I ran into KRDO News Channel 13 photojournalist Isaac Blancas twice
today, at a couple of major stories. He was the only photojournalist at
both. We got to talkin' a bit and he shared with me some information about
some stand-ups he had entered into a contest. I checked them out, and after
viewing them... I just had to share them with you. Terrific job, Isaac!
3/30/08: The brightly colored Olympic rings were visible from where I stood as I
took pictures of the CSPD Major Crime Detectives processing the scene and
looking for additional evidence at Bea's Tavern, the scene of a fatal stabbing. Only a shot-put throw away from where Olympians train each
day was where crime lab investigators now worked behind yellow police tape.
According to reports, police were called to the tavern late last night and found
the stabbed man in the parking lot. The victim purportedly died later, in the
early morning hours.
KRDO News Channel 13 was LIVE from the scene,
giving the public updates as they received them during their early morning
weekend newscasts. Here are a few pics of this mornings activities.
3/30/08: An outside fire caused some damage to a residence on Escapardo Way
yesterday afternoon. Flames damaged an outside wall and a fence, while smoke
filled the attic. It was first reported as possibly two houses engulfed in
flames, and that brought out all the media outlets, except KKTV 11 News who
didn't respond.
One neighbor said, she saw the flames on the
south side of the house and ran over to warn the residents, while she called
911.

3/29/08: An early Saturday morning rollover accident near the intersection of W.
Woodmen Rd and Westwood Rd took the life of one while injuring another.
Killed was the passenger, 18 year old Evan P. Kinnan. Kinnan was ejected
from the vehicle, which came to rest against a group of trees near the
intersection.
This afternoon, friends of Kinnan held a
memorial vigil at the spot of his death. Three crosses marked the spot,
one made of snowboards, one made of stones, and one made of wood.
Friends sat on or stood by a stone wall that was
near the scene, as others placed flowers and mementoes at the memorials. A
poster was also signed by many, sharing their condolences and memories.
