Palin's background
check: A Republican with ties to the campaign said the team assigned to
vet Palin in Alaska had not arrived there until Thursday, a day before
McCain stunned the political world with his vice-presidential choice.
The campaign was still calling Republican operatives as late as Sunday
night asking them to go to Alaska to deal with the unexpected candidacy
of Palin.
Prediction:Sarah
Palin's name will be withdrawn as McCain's running mate by September
23rd.
8 Sep 2008: My video report
about 'McCain's Colorado Springs visit hits snags', I did this
weekend (see text 8 stories below) hit the blog-world via the Air America
website blog.
I was wondering why it was getting so many video
views... Now I know!

Murky waters flow in stormwater rain tax battle
7 Sep 2008: No
wonder a particular city worker (who shall remain nameless), after making
the request got all upset when I wouldn't post a link on News Blab to
their "Stormwater Enterprise" propaganda video. Now the fog has
risen, and the reason is crystal clear... unlike their version of this
rain tax necessity.
Check out Pam Zubeck's newest Gazette article, and
you'll understand too. It's

Scary Alert!
- James Dobson is not GOD -
7
Sep 2008: Every once-in-a-while I get these
scary e-mails. Today was one of those 'every once-in-a-whiles'.
I received a reader message calling me 'blasphemy Mike' because I
constantly get on the case of Focus on the Family and Dr. James Dobson.
And they wanted me to go read something.
Okay... this is the scary part... the person who sent this must think what
I write/say about Dobson and FOtF is blasphemy. Hence that James
Dobson or FOtF is God...???
See what I mean about scary? How many of his other followers are of
this mind-set? Is that what goes on over there? Does Dobson think
he's God???
And, don't worry... I did not read what this person sent me. That is how
it all gets started.
There is no wool on me... and I won't be drinking the Kool-Aid.
UPDATE: Here's a nice comment I received.
Thanks!
Reader message: Blasphemy Mike? Wow, the fotf people are even
more psychotic, brainwashed, delusional and (dare I say retarded?) than I
thought. Mike, you sure have a way of getting the real "winners" to come
out of the closet. Keep up the great work and don't give any breaks to
fotf or the rest of the delusional religious zealots on the fringes of the
farthest right.
Colorado Springs Palin/McCain speech comments
6 Sep 2008: What did you think of the Palin/McCain speech, and if you were
there, how do you think it went (crowd, organization, etc.?)
Reader message: Reading all of
the reports about the McCain speech proves the point I've made to many
friends, that being a McCain presidency will be a train wreck. Palin is a
terrible choice and I believe hates the United States (why else would she
support the Alaska Independence Party and the ALASKA Constitution?),
McCain can't be trusted (like the rest of the Republicans under whose
watch 9/11 happened and took us to an illegal occupation of an independent
country under lies and false pretenses.)
Also, Lionel Rivera is a pandering scum bag who will take all kinds of
money from any of the special interests that give it to him and then says
Obama will raise Springs Utility rates. What planet is that retard from?
Reader
message: I was there and thought it was a perfectly fine event. Got
there at 9:30, found a place by the fence on the north side, and sat there
looking over the crowd into the hanger and the stage. I even was able to
shake hands with McCain and Palin as they headed to the plane so it was
exciting for me. Makes it all seem real, not just some soap opera beamed
in on the tv.
That being said, Lionel Rivera had no business being on that stage at all.
Just sad.....
Changes, changes, changes
6 Sep 2008: Here's some reader comments from this morning.
Reader message: Andy W. says no more News First @4 and only 9@9. What
is going on?
Reader message: Big shake up at KOAA. LOTS OF CHANGES
Reader message: Laura Rojas reveals on 5/30 last night that she has
been diagnosed with Leukemia.
Gazette says this morning the News First Now newscast will be eliminated
at 4 pm and 9 pm newscasts will be cut down to 9 minutes.
Reader message: Don't underestimate the roll of the Secret Service in
determining seating, parking etc. for a brief outdoor event. Local people
may have not had much say in arrangements.
Reader message: KRDO goes ball to the wall but they forget one small
thing... the FACTS! This morning Josh Simion says this is McCains first
speech since getting the nomination. This is wrong. McCain was in Michigan
and Wisconsin on Friday
McCain's Colorado Springs visit hits snags
- People dumping tickets due to poor planning? -
6 Sep 2008: ALERT - News Blab has learned: A
republican source has shared information that puts a bit of egg on the
face of the El Paso County Republican Party, as well as the McCain camp.
Not as many people will be attending today's McCain/Palin road show at the
Colorado Springs airport, as had received tickets. That's because
after those people learned of the accommodations (or lack of) they must
endure for hours while waiting for McCain to speak... they dumped their
tickets.
Many who gave up their tickets were older people who were hoping to listen
and see McCain LIVE, but knew they could probably not endure the type
conditions they would be forced to endure.
No chairs (except for a few elite), standing room only for most everyone
else, with many of those being placed on a hot un-shaded airport tarmac,
long waits, poor parking... need I say more.
It's definitely not a speech listener friendly environment. I'm guessing
better planning should have been done. Who dropped that ball...???
It was so confused this morning, even the spokesperson for the El Paso
County Republican Party declined to talk with a local radio talk show host
during his LIVE program from the jet center. I heard that refusal, and I'm
guessing it must have been embarrassing... Welcome to LIVE
broadcasting!
UPDATE: Later during
the LIVE radio broadcast, Kyle Fisk (spokesperson
for the El Paso County Republican Party) finally spoke with the talk show
host (I wonder why?). But... imagine my surprise when Fisk had the
nerve to ask that people who gave up their tickets, "for whatever reason"
was the quote, to still come done there to the jet center and drop those
tickets off at the 'Will Call' window, so someone else could use them.
"To make someone's day", he said.
Okay... what part of, gave up their tickets for improper planning, doesn't
Fisk understand? And then he asks them to come down, stand in line, and
drop off their tickets... Yes... he is a republican, no doubt about
it! (Rolls eyes)
UPDATE: Bloggers blogging LIVE from the rally
say, people are standing shoulder to shoulder on the tarmac. A
number of them have required medical attention (carried off tarmac to
hanger), and we are still more than an hour from the scheduled speech.
The flight for life helicopter is also on-scene.
UPDATE: Thousands still in line, and the word
is many will not get through security in time to see or hear the
candidates.
UPDATE: Oh please.... Mayor Lionel Rivera
just told the crowd that if Obama is elected, Colorado Springs utility
rates will be raised, and we would be mad at Rivera, but it would really
be Obama's fault. Give-me-a-break...utility rates will be
going up regardless of who wins... get real Lionel!
UPDATE: I actually feel embarrassed for those
who are running the pre-arrival festivities. Their choice of
speakers (some can't get it right). Sarah Palin was not the Mayor of
Alaska by-the-way, and just having a guy at the microphone chanting along
with cheerleaders who chant childish cheers is a bit much. Are barf
bags readily available...???
UPDATE: Organizers are asking people to move
back... but there is no room to move back. Oh-my-gosh... this is SO
NOT organized!!!
UPDATE: Another bloggers exact words:
Another person from outside was just carried through
by paramedics. It's cool inside the hangar, but heating up outside where
people have no protection from the sun and are squished together.
UPDATE: They are passing out American flags,
but not to anyone near the front. They said it was for security
reasons that no one in front can have them. What...???
UPDATE: The constant stalling is starting to
get to the crowd. This emcee really sucks! Other Cities take
note... do not organize your event like it was (dis) organized in Colorado
Springs. I'm guessing the people left baking in the sun on the
tarmac are the most unhappy...
UPDATE: They arrived ... speeches started ...
blah, blah, blah ... speeches ended.
UPDATE: Only thing that caught my attention
was when McCain talked about the senate action against a moveon.org
newspaper ad. He slammed Obama for not voting on that action. Now I
know McCain does not support freedom of speech, and that's kinda scary.
